High Level of Cruise Activity October 5-9
SAINT JOHN (NB) – Port Saint John is prepared to handle 11 cruise ships carrying nearly 35,000 guests and crew during a 120-hour period this week from October 5-9.Friday’s announcement of an additional call of Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas on Monday, October 5th added to an already busy week in the Port City. Liberty of the Seas is visiting Saint John to avoid marine-related weather effects being created by Hurricane Joaquin.This week’s ship calls include:
- Monday, October 5: Liberty of the Seas & Grandeur of the Seas. (Estimated total 7,980 guests and crew).
- Tuesday, October 6: Regal Princess, Norwegian Gem & Regatta. (Estimated total 9,070 guests and crew).
- Wednesday, October 7: Brilliance of the Seas & Norwegian Dawn (Estimated total 6,020 guests and crew).
- Thursday, October 8: Caribbean Princess & Silver Whisper. (Estimated total 4,870 guests and crew).
- Friday, October 9: Carnival Splendor & Crystal Symphony. (Estimated total 6,160 guests and crew).
After this week cruise season continues with 17 more ship visits (including a second triple ship day on October 13th and three additional double ship days on October 12th, 14th and 29th). The last visit of the year will be Regent Cruises Seven Seas Navigator on November 3rd.As the 2015 season heads into its final month, the Port is planning for 2016 which will again start in May and continue to the end of October. Full details of the 2016 cruise season will be released at the end of 2015.
