Port Saint John experienced 21% Increase in cruise passengers in 2016
SAINT JOHN (NB) – The 2016 cruise season at Port Saint John provided a 21% year-over-year increase in passengers. Cruise passenger count increased to 143,926 in 2016 from 119,172 in 2015, while ship count increased to 63 in 2016 from 59 in 2015. In addition to passenger increases, crew count increased to 59,003 in 2016 from 50,979 in 2015.Highlights of 2016 included:
- 8 inaugural calls
- Four calls of Royal Caribbean Cruise Line’s Anthem of the Seas – the largest cruise ship to Saint John to date
- The return of Disney Cruise Line with Disney Magic on 2 occasions
- Achieving the milestone of our one millionth Carnival Cruise Line guest since 1994
- Introduction of a new cruise line with Azamara Club Cruises
Port Saint John is Eastern Canada’s largest port by tonnage and has a diverse cargo base, including dry and liquid bulk, break bulk, containers, and cruise.
